Today I saw a headliner say Fitch Cuts Italian, Spanish Ratings by Two Notches In the bottom of this story it said the following and Bonds for France, Spain for a 1-year bond they are offering Spain average 2.049 percent, France yield of 0.406 percent. I thought it wise to view what the U.S. Treasury offering on a one-year 52-wk = Int Rate 0.105

Then I ready as well Italy is offering for their 10-year bond 6 percent. NOW take a guess what the U.S. is offering. Go for it take a well thought out guess. Okay here is it Int Rate 2.000

It is 3:35 PM ET and we have less then 30min till the U.S. Markets close. Well see shortly if the big money goes in to U.S. Stocks, Metals IE Gold, Bonds U.S short term or Currencies IE US Dollar, Swiss Frank, Euro or other. As of now it it leaning towards Gold, US Bonds, US stocks.

Here is the end of the story that I read in the news wire; The fallout in financial markets to S&P’s action was muted. Spain on Jan. 17 paid an average 2.049 percent to sell 12-month debt, compared with 4.05 percent on Dec. 13. The previous day, France auctioned 1.895 billion euros ($2.5 billion) of one-year notes at a yield of 0.406 percent, down from 0.454 percent on Jan. 9.

Italy’s 10-year bond yield dropped below 6 percent on Jan. 27 after ending last year with a yield of more than 7 percent.

EVENT: Kodak files for bankruptcy, stock delisted

If you recall the company was listed on the Dow Jones Industrial Average’s (DJIA) aka the Dow 30 & Blue Chip Stocks. Kodak was taken off November 1, 1999. The DJIA list the 30 largest U.S. public traded companies. This list has often changed components 48 times since 1896.

LAST WEEK: Eastman Kodak Co.’s shares declined in over-the-counter trading after the photography pioneer’s bankruptcy filing prompted the New York Stock Exchange to delist the securities.

They fell 45 percent to 31 cents at 1:37 p.m. New York time on volume of 49 million shares. The Rochester, New York-based company’s stock symbol changed today to “EKDKQ” from “EK.”

NYSE Regulation Inc. today said it would suspend trading of Kodak stock after determining the company is “no longer suitable for listing,” according to a statement.

Back on Feb 1997 the stock had traded at a high of $94.75, I wonder which pensions, mutual funds and others kept buying the stock over the years as it declined. Saying to them self and others it will go back up in price.

Wow what a false move up on RL yesterday. We had mention in are prior post we had expected this to happen. ( It will be interesting to see if they push the stock up to retest the price levels near 141.84 again. Since we are in a new month and starting a new year their may be a bullish bias period this day and week ahead. That can become a better place to add to this bearish position or start one. Well see what happens from here on.)

As seen in the charts below yesterday we went up in the morning session and came near to retesting the price level $141.84; But only reached a high of $141.72 and from then on we made lower highs to end the day near the lows with high volume. This happens very often with mutual funds the last day of each quarter of the year. The ‘big guys’ rotate of stocks to do window dressing for their funds, to reflect their positions and show that they are in the current best performers for the new quarter in their financial statements.

On the last three trading days of every month and the first two days of the new month, Mutual funds do a lot of window dressing to their funds. Exiting positions that are losers and buying stocks that show strength in the market. So share holders can see them in their ¼ returns. This will make the share holders fell good that there is better stocks then those stocks that appeared to be losers. But still not understand why the returns are still so low.

They do this on the last trading day of the month and the following trading of the following month. This can cause a bullish movement for the major markets for the time frame this occurs. So if your short the markets with stocks or Put options. You may want to delay this for the time or any trading.

Also since this is December the last month of the year a lot of selling takes place for reason such as capitol losses and gains. The January month of every year, new money comes to the market for IRA contributions. This can cause short term bullish moves in the markets.

At the current period, we do have a lot of fear spreading through the main stream media about; The Middle East uprising began in Tunisia and is spreading to Egypt and across the vital region, Iran Oil fear of blockade, Iran Nuke weapons, North Korea, EU Financial Crisis, The Eur and US Dollar Currency / Currencies Manipulating from each nation, Occupy Wall Street (OWS) the protest movement, The U.S. Election Campaigns for 2012. Plus those that care less about that mention and focus on Zombie TV entertainment like American Idol, ESPN and etc.

Read the tea leave’s as they say. Many charts have been showing lots of signals this week of distribution.

We closed are bullish trades yesterday morning in the bank sector and took near max profits.

EXHIBIT 1.1: Daily Chart (S&P 500 vs.XLF)

AAPL stock has been held up at these price this week. But the market makers and axe sellers have not done well enough to hide there intent selling aka distribution.They may try another fake out and pop it up one more time to lure more week hands in to buying. I would consider shorting then as well with a tight stop above.

The QQQ has gaps in the prior uptrend. I am expcxting those to get filled. Since AAPL is heavy weighed in the QQQ index. I expect when AAPL goes lower in a fast rush for the fire exit. Then the QQQ gaps will get retested. See the chart below how AAPL is showing distribution this past week.

I am looking for a fast move soon for the wash out then would consider going long S&P 500 index for the season rally as well. I expect the US Dollar to cause the trigger to lead the was out in the S&P 500 stocks.

This past Friday evening I done my regular viewing of the FDIC website for bank closing information. I saw that the following two companies were closed. Central Progressive Bank, Lacombe, LA and Polk County Bank, Johnston, IA

I then done a further google internet search on Central Progressive Bank to gain further INSIGHT on them and the bigger issue of bank failures. I found many past news stories. One I had read further was from 2009. I found very interesting and informative how this bank had taken (careless) higher risk. It appears the leadership DOES NOT APPLY PROPER MONEY MANAGEMENT SKILLS.

I also found it very interesting how many people posted comments below the story not of the bank investment strategy (RISK) but instead on how well they found the banks customer services. How naive those are two different issues. The post(s) may be from upper bank management or staff as a crisis management control aka propaganda. On the other hand now one can say in highsight this is easy to say and time would tell. Well it certainly has now.

Spokesman Greg Beuerman said the FDIC’s admonition stems from a bevy of bad real estate loans Central Progressive recently made in Florida. Richard “Dickie” Blossman, Central Progressive’s CEO, declined through Beuerman to comment on Monday. But during an interview in September, Blossman recounted Central Progressive’s desire to expand into Florida at a time when real estate prices appeared to be on a path of limitless ascent.

A modest company with fewer than two dozen branches on the north shore, Central Progressive decided to open a loan office in Destin several years ago. Bankers used the space to meet with real estate developers from across the country, endorsing dozens of loans to build beachfront condominiums and other projects that never materialized, according to Blossman.

The FDIC and feds should pay closer attention to CPB. A friend of mine used to work there and it’s basically Dickie Blossman’s personal bank account with his $100,000 repo Mercedes that is his company car.

Take it from someone who knows. CPB is not only in trouble for this Florida business. For many years the officers there have been using banking money for personal usage and then writing it off as a business expense. Why do you think they were given that sezure on expenses!!! And why is it that most of the officers drive nice, expensive cars? This has been a long time coming. And most are correct….their money is fine for now, but what happens if CPB does not comply with the demands of FDIC? It is very possible that FDIC will pull their insurance, meaning….if the banks fails, anyone who has funds there will not be insured.
Everything looks fine from the outside, but until you have been behind the scenes in this bank, you will never truly know what really goes on.
